Biography:

Cory Williams was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina. After finishing high school, Cory began to work for metal fabricators and blacksmiths while fulfilling a growing curiosity and obsession with metal and forming processes.  While living and traveling around the Midwest and East Coast, Williams was employed by several architectural blacksmiths and metal fabricators. He used this experience to hone his skills in fabrication, which he now employs in his fine art practice, design, and production. His studio practice focuses on sculpture as well as architectural and interior metal work. He has had the good fortune of working with many talented artists, and now works just outside of Winston-Salem, NC in his own studio.

Statement:

The quiet nature of my work is intended to be welcoming and thought provoking. I strive for simplicity in composition and line, hoping to invite the viewer to take a closer look at detail.

"Williams explores the diverse technical and aesthetic possibilities of metal in his work. His steel and wood sculptural abstractions represent the minimalization of form, often appearing weightless despite the density of their material." - Blue Spiral 1
